1.1.1 The Institution ensures effective curriculum delivery through a well planned and documented process<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

RESPONSE: \u00a0<\/span>J. V. Jain College, Saharanpur is a Minority Institution affiliated to C. C. S. University,\u00a0<\/span>Meerut, (U. P.) and follows the curricula prescribed by the University. The College ensures\u00a0effective curriculum delivery through a well planned and documented process. Academic\u00a0Council prepares the academic calendar of the college and also the concerned departments\u00a0prepare their departmental academic calendars .The academic calendar specifies suitable\u00a0available dates for significant academic and other activities. The faculty members are briefed\u00a0on the academic activities of the college on the first meeting of the commencement of every\u00a0academic year. Meetings are held in each department to discuss about the course\u00a0distribution for the academic sessions every year. Based on the expertise of individual\u00a0teacher, the syllabus is allotted to them by the Head of the Department. Every department\u00a0prepares teaching plan, allotting term-wise topics to be taught. Syllabus of each subject for\u00a0the academic session is provided to the students. Faculty members prepare semester-wise\u00a0teaching plan for theory and practical at the beginning of every academic year\/semester.\u00a0Dean of students welfare prepares a general time-table and HOD of concerned\u00a0departments prepare departmental timetable. Teachers conduct classes according to the\u00a0timetable. Departmental meetings are held periodically to review the syllabus completed.\u00a0For the effective transmission and delivery of curricula, departments integrate classroom\u00a0teaching with various ICT tools, laboratory practicals, field projects, students seminars,\u00a0tutorials, question papers solving, research projects, field survey, etc.For the effective\u00a0curriculum delivery teachers also use participative, problem solving , cooperative and\u00a0student-centric learning methods.\u00a0Classroom teaching is supplemented with seminars, workshops, special lectures,\u00a0group discussions, Tutorials, Use of monitors, Departmental Quiz, paper presentation by the\u00a0students, projects, group assignments, term-papers, educational tours, field trips and\u00a0industrial visits for effective delivery of curriculum, which are done in a planned manner.\u00a0Records are maintained by each department.\u00a0For the up-gradation of subject-related knowledge, college organizes seminars,\u00a0conferences, and workshops. This activity provides a platform to the faculty and the students\u00a0to participate and interact with experts in various fields and enrich and update their subject\u00a0knowledge.\u00a0Faculties effectively and creatively use PPTs, models, charts, and various educational\u00a0softwares for delivering the subject knowledge. The college organizes guest lectures, expert\u00a0lectures of eminent academicians, for the effective curriculum delivery. College also provides\u00a0special guidance to the slow learners under the Special Guidance Scheme of remedial\u00a0classes .Besides this, the college has a mentoring system for academic-related issues.\u00a0College library is digitalised. Library provides INFLIBNET, e-journals, OPEC, Book\u00a0Bank facility etc. College library is very enriched having a good collection of books. Some\u00a0departments also have a departmental library. Reading facility is also available for teachers\u00a0and students to facilitate the teaching learning process. College provides internet\u00a0connectivity with campus Wi-Fi facility to the teachers for effective teaching-learning.<\/span><\/p>\n

All Internal Examinations and Class tests are conducted to check whether the students have\u00a0acquired knowledge as outlined in the objectives of the curriculum. All examinations are\u00a0conducted according to the Academic Calendar. Tutorials are held regularly to monitor the\u00a0progress of the students. Remedial\/ Special\/classes\/Deprived are conducted for low\u00a0achievers. Advance learners are made to solve University Question papers and efforts are\u00a0made by professors to improve their performance. Record of the regular attendance, mark\u00a0lists and progress of the students are maintained and preserved by the respective\u00a0departments.<\/span><\/p>\n

The college encourages faculty members to attend Orientation\/Refresher courses,\u00a0workshops and present papers in seminars conducted by the affiliating and other\u00a0Universities for acquiring necessary skills for effective delivery of the curriculum. Photo\u00a0copies of the Certificates of the above courses are provided by faculty members to IQAC for\u00a0documentation.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.1.2 The institution adheres to the academic calendar for the conduct of CIE<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0RESPONSE:\u00a0The college adheres to the academic calendar provided by C.C.S. University Meerut for the conduction of continuous internal evaluation system.The college strongly trusts on transparency in its functioning. The college has a well-defined standard operating procedure to develop the academic teaching plans and it follows a well-defined academic calendar. Preparation of the academic calendar immensely contributes to achieving this. The Academic Calendar helps as a source of information and planner for students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders of the college. It encompasses all the processes of the college such as, the Student section, Administrative, Academic, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The institute prepares the Academic calendar by understanding the Programme Outcomes and Course Outcomes so that the activities are planned accordingly. Academic Calendar lays down a very strong foundation of academic delivery. It further propagates the\u00a0vision and mission of the college. Preparation of the Academic Calendar begins well before the commencement of the academic year. The Academic calendar is designed in line with the affiliating (C. C. S. University, Meerut) University\u2019s Academic calendar and takes into consideration the holidays and vacations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Dean of the college while preparing the academic calendar in consultation with the Principal takes into consideration feedback of previous year activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The suggestions given by the Principal are incorporated in the academic calendar before it is finalized. The academic calendar is communicated to the teachers and also to the students by displaying it on a website and notice boards.<\/span><\/p>\n

The academic calendar shows the start and end of each semester stating various activities to be conducted, the internal evaluation schedule and the tentative schedule of external evaluation. The academic calendar includes the dates of commencement and completion of syllabus, schedules of internal exams etc. It specifies the dates of term end examination. Tentative dates of practical exams and viva-voce and theory examinations are also given in the academic calendar. The time-tables are prepared and implemented accordingly.<\/span><\/p>\n

Internal examination of each course is done according to the pattern prescribed by the university, which includes\u00a0Practicals, Group discussions, Seminar, Presentations, and Projects etc. As per the academic calendar, internal evaluation is conducted on the dates scheduled by the College Administration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The schedule of external examinations is fixed by the University and the same is displayed on notice boards for students. In case of any change in the University schedule, some changes are required to be made in internal evaluation as well. These changes are communicated to the students well in advance. However, all efforts are made by the college to adhere to the academic calendar for CIE.<\/span><\/p>\n

The college has built in mechanisms to ensure syllabus completion and conduct of CIE within the time frame and accordingly the various measures are taken. Remedial classes are also conducted.\u00a0\u00a0The Academic Council balances the trade-off between strict adherence to the Academic calendar and conduct of CIE.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Academic Council ensures the strict implementation of the Academic Calendar by monitoring activities. Implementing gaps are reviewed periodically. The status of checkpoints and gaps identified in monitoring are conveyed to the Principal for the necessary implementation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The academic calendar gives a particular period to conduct extracurricular and social activity such as: Celebration of birth and death anniversaries of the national icons. Celebration of various national and international days, Tree plantation to keep campus areas green and to make the students aware about various environment related issues, blood donation camp and various other social activities to be conducted by NSS at the college and NSS adopted village.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The institution also conducts curricular and extra- curricular review meetings on a regular basis to check the implementation and progress of all the activities in the academic calendar. Based on these review meetings, some changes in schedules of activities are made if required. Further, extra lectures are scheduled to complete the syllabus before university examination.<\/span><\/p>\n

The university integrates cross-cutting issues relevant to Professional Ethics, Gender, Human Values, Environment and Sustainability into the curriculum. These issues are addressed by the curriculum itself and they are effectively transacted to the students both in the classroom and outside.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        Gender Issues:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        At the undergraduate and postgraduate level, the areas covered in Core Courses are Law of Women and Child, Population Geography, Gender, School and Society, Sociological Foundations of Education, Nutrition during infancy, preschool age, Child Rights and Gender Justice;\u00a0 Sociology of Working with Families and Communities. Course as Gender, School and Society includes themes as gender issues, gender inequalities, women in Indian society, gender, sexuality, sexual harassment and abuse etc. Different departments also offer courses as Inequality of Caste and Gender, Women Empowerment and Status of Women. The transaction of various courses has a strong focus on Gender differentials in the socialization of students.\u00a0 Also, various days and rallies related to gender issues are celebrated and organized by\u00a0 NSS, NCC, Rovers-Rangers and different departments of the college.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Environmental and Sustainability:<\/span><\/p>\n

        Curriculum at UG and PG level includes various papers related to<\/span> Environmental and Sustainability issues\u00a0 like Ecological Degradation, Climate change, Sustainable Development, Chipko Movement, Global Warming, Pollution and Ecological Imbalance, Environmental Law, Economic Geography, Environmental Geography, Natural Resources, Climatology, Agricultural Geography, Environmental Chemistry, Business Environment, Physical Geology and Applied Geology, Poverty Alleviation Programme, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Pollution Agriculture etc.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        The students are made aware of the concept of sustainability. NSS, NCC and UBA promote environmental awareness through tree plantation, water conservation, blood donation, village cleanliness, plastic-free drives and rallies on other environmental issues. The college has taken initiatives in organic waste management through various demonstrations. The college is using LED lights to save energy and minimize environmental pollution.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Human values and Professional Ethics:<\/span><\/p>\n

        Human values and Professional ethics are taught and developed among students as these are the part of syllabus. Different papers and topics related to Human values and Professional ethics at UG and PG level are:- Values, Sources of values, Education for peace, National integration, Role of celebration of Indian Festivals; Moral Degradation, Code of ethics for teachers, Professional Ethics, Accountability and Bar-Bench Relationship, Human Rights.<\/span><\/p>\n

        The college organizes various extension activities through UBA, NSS, NCC and Rovers- Rangers for the inculcation of values like national integrity, patriotism, equality, peace, brotherhood, etc. Blood donation, Medical checkup Camps, are also organized. Special emphasis is laid on inculcating ethical practices among the students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        The cross-cutting issues are also an intrinsic part of the students\u2019 co-curricular activities.
