Self-finance courses are those promoted and managed by University and Colleges. The funds are arranged by the college, affiliations obtained by them, faculties appointed by them and the salaries, criteria for admission of students in the college and the cut off limit decided by the certain guidelines provided by university. The admission in Government colleges are based on the quota system determined by the Government which cannot be violated. The self-financing courses can set their own admission criteria based on the guidelines of the Government. The number of reputed Government and aided colleges in our country is very less and the number of students pursuing the professional courses in all streams has been increasing every day. The Government colleges are run entirely according to guidelines of the Government and hence, the quota system prevails in these colleges. The general quota candidates with merit have very few seats available for their admissions. The Government has thus taken initiative of giving approvals to opening of self-financing colleges to aid students in obtaining admissions for courses of their choice. The Government has been approving an increasing number of seats for admission in self-financing colleges every year and has also been introducing newer courses every year to promote professional education among all students. The self-financing colleges formulate their own course material with the help of experts in the field and try to match their course standard with the best international standard. Syllabus formulation of the self finance course should match the Government guidelines but the way it is taught and the manner in which it is inculcated in the students is definitely different in these colleges.
In 2016, professional courses in B.Sc. Computer Sciences and three graduate degrees in various streams, such as B.Sc. Home Science and B.Com, were launched at J.V.Jain College. College admissions can be done with the help of the universitys rules. Every course has 50 minority seats, with the remaining 50 falling under general seats. Every student should register on the universitys website, and the institution will handle the rest of the admissions process. Faculty members were appointed by the college for a three-year term, which was ratified by the university.
