3.2  INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM

3.2.1 Institution has created an ecosystem for innovations and has initiatives for creation and transfer of knowledge

RESPONSE: With a vision to nurture new ventures, J. V. Jain college, Saharanpur has created an ecosystem for innovation including Research & seminar Committee, IQAC, Carrieer Counselling Cell and other initiatives. They function in coordination with one another to create and transfer knowledge, for monitoring and addressing the issues related to enhancement of research, innovation and entrepreneur skills among the faculty and students, thus fostering overall growth. The institute has also followed research & development guidelines of CCS University, Meerut. The Intellectual Property Rights Cell has been established in Law department under the convenorship of Dr. M.M. Feroz that facilitate the identification and exploration of patent policy.

There are 80  research scholars out of them 3 are awarded with UGC-CSIR JRF. The JRF scholars also diliver lectures in UG and PG classes of their respective departments as per UGC guidelines.

The faculty are empowered to take up research activities by utilizing the existing facilities provided by college like research journals, equipments, technical lab, computer lab, internet and library. Publication of research outcome in UGC recognized peer reviewed journals and above also upholding the ethics in research activities by avoiding plagiarism are our worth mentioning practices. Our faculty have published high quality books, research papers and also chapters in proceedings of conferences/seminars. Some faculty members do have copyrites for reseach papers. Refresher Courses, Orientation Programs, Faculty Development Programs and Short Term Courses organized by UGC-HRDC are regularly attended by faculties to improve their knowledge and professional skills. The teachers, research scholars and students participate and present papers in Conferences/Seminars/Workshops/Training programmes conducted by other institutions also. This helps them to understand the current research scenario to enhance interaction and cooperation among researchers for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary work.

The main objective of our institution is knowledge creation and innovative practices, promote UG and PG students to explore new opportunities in the field of research. Drafting of research papers and reporting, oral and poster presentations and exhibitions are also given due importance. College organizes conferences/seminars/workshops/short term training programs that facilitate the faculty and students to interact with subject experts of renound institutions/universities. Guest lectures and talks on special issues are also conducted with reputed academicians as resource persons. The Research and seminar committee assists and encourages them for interdisciplinary and collaborative research and publications.

Field work, assignments, project reports, dissertations, educational tours and visits being the part of curriculum at UG and PG level, students are motivated by their concerned academic supervisors to conduct local issue based research oriented works. The topics for dissertations are always selected from recent and relevant research areas for the benefit of society.

Our central library has huge number of reference books, collection of rare books, encyclopaedia, magazines, periodicals, research journals- printed as well as e-journals and e-books, free internet access with ideal sitting facility besides providing the facility for open access of books and journals. Seven departments have their own library with connectivity to it facilitated with free access.

UGC-CPE grant of 93.84 lakhs received and utilized to strengthen the teaching and research infrastructure resulting further expansion. Well equipped and research friendly labs, computer lab for research students, language lab and class rooms with smart teaching and learning are established with the aim of bringing new insights.
