5.3 STUDENT PARTICIPATION AND ACTIVITIES

RESPONSE:Our Institution provides an environment for students to improve their leadership and interpersonal skills and also help them increasing their self confidence.Involvement in activities helps students mature socially by providing a setting for student interaction understanding and discussions. College creates a platform for the active participation of the students in various administrative and academic bodies including Sports committee , Cultural Committee , Magazine Committee, Library Committee, Career Counselling Cell, Proctorial Board and Dean Students Welfare Committee.Students are invited to express their viewpoints. They share their problems and also give suggestions regarding the betterment of facilities in the college.

Our departments  organise different student centric programs and activities in every academic session and students participate with zeal and enthusiasm .  Students actively participate in organising different activities and events like Quiz Competition, Poster Competition, GK Competition, Rangoli Competition, Kavi Goshthi , Fresher and Farewell parties , Exhibition on Best out of Waste , Exhibition cum Sale,  Painting Exhibition by Drawing and Painting and  Home Science Departments. Students participation in organising bodies like Literary and Cultural Committee, Magazine Committee , IQAC, Sports Council, Career Counselling Cell  is remarkable.

Our Teacher Education Department has an Education Association for the purpose of active participation of the students in various academic and administrative activities. The selection of student representatives and constitution of the Education Association is done by the Head and other faculty members of the department. Association has students from UG and PG as office bearers. They work as a medium between faculty and students. They help in coordinating  the events related to academics and other co-curricular activities as per directives of teaching faculty.

The Association works with the objective to promote and encourage innovative ideas in the minds of the students.The Association provides an opportunity for students to engage in a structured partnership with teachers.

Functions of Education Association: –

Coordination in day-to-day academic activities at their level, Coordination in communicating the information between students and teaching faculty regarding  assignments, viva- voce arrangements etc,

Coordination in arranging academic programmes for the students with the help of teachers.

Association promotes effective communication among students, staff and parents. It helps in fostering friendship and respect among the students.

Different Departments have students participation in form of organising and participating  different curricular and extra curricular activities – As Department of Physics has a practice of constituting an Extra Curricular Committee which includes four student representatives in it. These students representative play a vital role in organising the events and connecting the students of the faculty.Besides the above, student participation in both forms organising and participating in various activities is an integral part of every Department of Institution.

The NSS unit conducts various activities like Eye Check-up Camp, awareness Rallies,One day camps,10 days annual camp, plastic flag collection from roadside on National festivals. Unit forms various committees of students according to their interests and talents.The NCC Unit conducts regular parade, Republic Day and Independence Day Celebrations, participation of cadets in various camps.

5.4 ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT

5.4.1 There is a registered Alumni Association that contributes significantly to the development of the institution through financial and/or other support services

RESPONSE: J V Jain College Saharanpur has a glorious past. It has an established alumni association. The Alumni have done College proud over the years by making their mark in diverse fields. The alumni of the institution are among the distinguished personalities of the society like gadzeted officers, Doctors, Engineers, Professors, Industrialists ,Politicians, Advocates ,Writers ,Poets Businessmen and many more. Activities of College Alumni Association are as below-

  1. Sports activity was organised which was Co-sponsored by Alumni Association of J.V. Jain College, Saharanpur On 14th February 2017.
  2. New Executive Committee formed on 21st May 2017 in which Sh. Vineet Mittal and Dr. Pankaj Gupta got the position of President and Secretory of the Alumni Association respectively.  
  3. A general  meeting was organised On 14th August 2017. Alumni Association decided to provide the financial help to the meritorious students, to reward the students who gained special achievements in various fields and to help in making the environment clean. 
  4. A Sports Event was organised On 01st February 2018.
  5. A Health Checkup program was organised On 06th February 2018 which was inaugurated officially by Sh. Udayee Ram Ji, Additional Commissioner.
  6. A Medical Camp was organised from 08th to 15th February 2018 by the Old Student’s Council. This Medical Camp was organised by the courtesy of Medigram Hospital. The program was inaugurated by the Additional Divisional Commissioner.
  7. A Prize Distribution Ceremony was organised On 26th March 2018 under the joint auspices of the District Olympic Association and Alumni Association. Students of College got honoured for their Sports achievements and the winners of the Saharanpur Cup Cricket Programme was also get honoured for their performances. 
  8. 2nd Executive Meeting held in the Principal Office under Officiating Principal Dr. P.K. Varshney On 28th November 2018.
  9. On 17th Jan., 2019, Cricket Tournament organised by Alumni Association at Sports Stadium Park.
  10. A District Level Cricket Competition was organised under the auspices of Cricket Association from 21st to 25th April 2019. 
  11. On 30th April, 2019 Alumni Committee Meeting held in the Principal’s Office.
  12. May 01, 2019 after the meeting, the Council decided to honour the players who played two times from the establishment of the college i.e. 1956 till 2016. The Old Student’s Council Member Dr. P.K. Sharma, President Sh. Vineet Mittal, Joint President Sh. Rajeev Arya informed that the players to be honoured on 10th May 2019 with the support of Dr. Sandeep Gupta.
  13. On 21st May, 2019 Players participated at the University Level were awarded in a ceremony .The Program was inaugurated jointly by the Deputy President of UP Olympic Association and Municipal MLA Sh. Sanjay Garg and Officiating Principal Dr. P.k. Varshney .

Beside this Department of Education organises Its Alumni meet-up time to time. Department welcomes many important suggestions from its Alumni’s regarding betterment of Department.
