Drawing & Painting Department

The department of Drawing & Painting established in 1959. As a subject in B.A. programme, it began in 1959 and PG Clases began in 1964. Today, the department runs UG & PG Courses. Research/Ph.D. programme is also run in the department. There are 60 seats in BA and 20 seats in MA  in this subject. The dept. has its own library with almost three thousand books and journals. The dept. has an art gallery to display paintings and to organize painting exhibitions. The department regularly organizes annual painting exhibition of the work done by PG students. The dept. has a good relationship with UP State Lalit Kala Academy, Lucknow and organizes demonstration programmes, exhibitions, training workshops etc. held under the guidance or sponsored by the academy. The dept. has a stock of old paintings and prints of the paintings of the famous artists. The dept., time to time, organizes lectures, demonstration programmes from the external experts of the various fields like landscape painting, portrait painting, creative compositions, abstract painting, folk painting, one day workshop on painting etc.
