Sociology Department

The Department of Sociology was established in 1957. It offers teaching and research programs for Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Ph.D. level. At the PG level, a wide spectrum of courses spread over a period of 4 semesters so that the students will equipped to persu specialization in areas of their interest. Apart from the theoritical and methodological base, some courses pertaining to thrust areas indentified by the UGC.

The Faculty of the department backed by strong work ethics are regularly engaged in research areas like rural sociology, tribal studies, political sociology and rural development.
